Lighting the home in Autumn
As we head into autumn and the nights draw in, my thoughts turn more to the interior of my home and making it cosy and welcoming through the winter months. The extensive collection of lighting at La Redoute gives so many options and I’ve chosen a few styles that I love in my edit below.
How we light our homes can be complex and confusing with all the different needs we have. Task lighting, ambient lighting, mood lighting, overhead lights, wall lights and pendants. There are so many choices. With the help of one of my favourite homeware brands La Redoute I’ve been able to find a fabulous selection of lights to suit all your lighting needs to create not only cosy corners, but to also illuminate your work spaces and to create a statement where needed.
The importance of different layers of lighting
Apparently, the average room in our homes should ideally have 6 - 8 light sources, now that seems a lot! But the best lit rooms will have several layers of lighting. Think multiple points of light that all blend well together and will create different moods or uses whether used separately or together.
Here’s my selection of different types of lighting from La Redoute to help create harmonious and cosy spaces in your home this autumn.
This rattan and velvet lampshade will add texture and a beautiful diffused light to your room. For an overhead light I always try to use a dimmer to control the brightness.
I love this wall light, it will add a cosy glow and I’m a big fan of the Japandi style of this one.
A real statement light, quality solid oak, and has a really gorgeous luxe look to it.
Super cute and textural, my favourite materials of natural wood and raffia, make this a perfect addition to a boho style room.
Love this, quirky and anything with texture such as this raffia shade mixed with the handmade ceramic style base is a winner for me. I’ve got this in my bedroom as a bedside light.
Small but perfectly formed and I love a bit of velvet for a glamorous touch. A velvet shade will also diffuse a lovely gentle glow too.
Perfect Scandi style work lamp for your office or kid’s room. A simple but classic and timeless design.
Would look beautiful in a vintage style kitchen either as a pendant light over a kitchen table or multiples along a kitchen worktop with open shelving.
Love the contrast of textures in this one, the linen softens the industrial feel of the bracket. Also a fantastic light if you need a wall light but don’t want to chase electrics into the wall as this is a plug in wall light.
Genius design, if you’re struggling in a small space this is perfect, a lamp and side table (or bedside table) in one!
The perfect pendant for a relaxed bohemian style decor scheme. The bamboo style slats will give off a lovely diffused pattern and light in the room too.
