The Influencer Edit: Bed Linen by @mishkashoe

It’s National Bed Month and here, we explore how to get a relaxing vibe in the bedroom with Michaela Shoebridge of @mishkashoe.

Taking place every March, this annual campaign began in 1990 and raises awareness of the importance of sleep. We all know how significant a good, comfortable bed and a calming bedroom is in helping to achieve a good night's sleep to fully recharge. With lighter mornings approaching and the seasons changing, I tend to crave a clean and cosy vibe that is simple, serene and purely dreamy!

I have teamed up with @laredoute_uk to highlight the key elements you should consider when decorating and furnishing your bedroom and finding your perfect bed.

When it comes to our bedrooms, we never seem to focus on them as much as our main living areas. However, let's not forget that our bedrooms are one of the most important rooms in our home. Adding some luxurious pieces full of textures and organic shapes & lines (the new 2022 interior design trends) will not only balance both comfort and simplicity but will also help spending a little extra time snoozing worth your while.

Space, design and your budget?

Before you make any decisions, make sure you consider the size of your bedroom. We always tend to go for the largest beds we can comfortably fit into our bedrooms, as partner disturbance is one of the main causes of interrupted sleep.

The bigger the bed, the more space you will have, the better sleep you will get…..however don't forget to consider design, practicality and your budget. Trends come and go, so make sure you opt for something you will not tire off and will love for a long time.

A Canopy bed is one of the most luxurious pieces of furniture that provide many design options, from simple & modern designs to full on frills, tassels, and chintz.

The beautiful  Gilmour Canopy Bed  in solid walnut is an absolutely dream thanks to its modern structure and design.

Comfort, preferences & your specific needs

When it comes to investing in your bed and mattress, I would recommend making some notes first. Do you need any storage with drawers with your bed? Do you suffer from any allergies? Do you suffer with any back ache? Would you benefit from a memory foam mattress?

I know we are all different and we all have our preferences, but switching to a memory foam mattress was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would recommend having a look at the Hush premium memory foam rolled mattress that adapts to body contour.

Choosing the right duvet and pillows

Before you make any choices, don't forget to consider these things: Filling, size, price, maintenance and how warm you like to be during your sleep. Eco- friendly products are at the forefront of my daily choices and with the summer approaching, this Natural eco-friendly duvet certainly ticks these boxes!

Set a serene mood in the bedroom with calming colours and textures

Choosing bedding can be overwhelming as there are so many options: cotton, silk, or linen. I am a huge fan of natural textures, relaxed & lived-in look so when it comes to choosing bedding, linen is the one for me.  Not only as it requires less maintenance with its less ironed look, but it also gets softer and softer the more you wash it. It’s perfect for all year around as it keeps you cool during summer months, but warm during those cold winter nights too, definitely a win- win.

One of my ultimate favourites are the Elina linen duvet cover in white foam, layered with the linange linen  bedspread.

The perfect finishing touches

No bedroom is finished without a large rug and some decorative cushions. Nothing worse than getting out of bed and your feet touching a cold floor. Cushions and rugs are perfect additions to pull the whole look & design together, making your bed set up even more relaxed and luxurious.

If you are looking to add textures to your bedroom space, I recommend opting for the Ouate faux fur cushion covers and the soft Maketha wool rug as they complement each other so perfectly.

The importance of the bedside table

Spending so much of our time on our phones or reading a book before bed means that having a bedside table is a must have for me. Not only it adds a bit of luxury, but it is also very practical. I love to mix & match bedside cabinets to beds as it allows you to add more contrast and additional elements to your design. It also provides additional surface to home your reading lamp and a glass of water.

I am loving the shape of the new set of 2 Oreus bedside tables in solid mango wood.from La Redoute. They make a perfect pairing with the new Mogda walnut & marble lamp.
