La Redoute is all about great quality, stylish clothing that cleverly adapts to an existing wardrobe while providing a dash of freshness each season. Here, fashion lover Simone Charles (she/her) shows us how she has taken a clever mini edit of her faves and made them her own.
The LBD of dreams
Since turning 30, I’ve realised the power of dressing to suit my mood, my lifestyle, and my body. My motto is if something looks good and feels good, then it has the power to make me feel good, too. A little black dress may be a classic investment, but is one that still has that energy, style and flair to stand up to any situation.
This one is in a cool cotton, with lovely long sleeves and a flared shape which flatters and fits in all the right places. I am wearing this now with a light ish coat, but when it gets colder (oh no!) I’m going to layer with a sweater over it, or pair it with a bright cardi. I can see this with long boots or with chunky trainers, it really is a go-anywhere solution.
Here, I’ve styled with Veja trainers. They are a little pricy, but super comfy and because they are made from vegetable tanned leather, they are better for the environment too.
The undeniable denim jacket
You really can’t go wrong with a denim jacket can you? This one is classic and feminine, in a durable denim with a lovely wash. Honestly, I’m going to be living in this one because it feels so soft but it works hard and will go with dresses, black trousers, jumpsuits – oh everything!
Gingham delight
Gingham is such a strong trend, it’s one I love as it is so versatile and can look soft and gentle, but you can also toughen it up a bit, as in this jacket in brown and cream. It’s got pockets – hurrah! – and that utility feel which really gives it an edge. It’s the perfect lightweight option for layering over and under so it will see me through many seasons, and it’s machine washable too!
