When did your rose gold obsession start? For us, it began with a phone case. After the phone case it was stationery, then sneakers, nail art and jewellery… it’s been a few years but we still can’t get enough of those soft, rosy hues. Call us basic, but we love it!
The rose gold trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere – in fact, it’s stepping up a notch and transcending from fashion to beauty. Yep, rose gold hair is officially A Thing, and we’re totally here for it.
We first spotted metallic hair shades on the 2017 catwalks – Maison Margiela sent models down the runway with a solid gold style that screamed opulence, while brands including Miu Miu, Chanel, Michael Kors and Isabel Marant all included head-to-toe – including the hair - silver looks in their shows. But it’s Instagram where the rose gold trend has really taken off, with a slew of selfies that show everything from DIY looks to salon styles.

The best thing about the rose gold trend is that it’s open to all shades without the hassle of bleaching – for those with naturally darker hair, a rose gold colour will take perfectly over highlights or ombré colour. So no need to go white blonde first!
If you’re aiming for a full-on rosy hue we’d recommend visiting a salon to get the pro experience, but if you fancy playing around with the look at home, you can easily add a streak or some gentle highlights with a DIY kit.
When it comes to finding your perfect shade, fairer skins should look for a light to medium peach, while olive tones can go deeper. Dark skin will pop with a vibrant coral or juicy orange-pink.
