Mums the word this season with @_shelleyloves

In this series, we look at those everlasting pieces that comprise a hard working yet versatile wardrobe. Here, personal stylist @_shelleyloves showcases her best buys for her and her stylish daughter from the chic collections at La Redoute, where big name brands sit comfortably with the covetous in-house ranges.

 Autunm/winter is definitely a time to embrace jeans, and La Redoute have a stunning collection. I knew I would find my perfect pair! It is at this time of year that jeans work the hardest in both Daisy's and my wardrobe.



Levi Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans, High Waist

These straight leg ones by Levis are THE best. It can be hard to find a good fitting pair of jeans but the high waist, the array of colours and the selection of lengths available make them the perfect pair for all ages and heights.

We both wanted them to be above the ankle and as a straight leg they look good with lots of footwear including these fabulous Converse (the platform gives you height without a heel, genius) or these always cool New Balance.

We both teamed them with a selection of jumpers. Daisy particularly loved this Alpaca mix one from La Redoute jumper and I have to admit it is particularly cuddly and cosy. My favourite is this one as I love the colour and the neckline.

I like to wear my blue jeans with a smart black blazer as I love the high low mix, it somehow makes the outfit cooler. All these pieces will mix and match with so many other items and therefore make your wardrobe work harder for you and make it easier to put outfits together.

A good coat is a must for the colder seasons. An oversized, mid length tailored coat is a fab option. This style will look amazing with most pieces in your wardrobe. I chose this one as I love that it is blue, which is a little softer than black, the herringbone makes it look super expensive as does all the small details like the button tab on the sleeves.

I paired this with simple black leggings (black and blue always look good together) and this pair of gorgeous wide leg trousers.

I wanted to show how it can be both dressed up or down and doesn't need to be saved for best. Daisy went for this varsity jacket as she loves her coats to be oversized. She teamed it with both jeans and leggings to again show how versatile a piece it is. We are all about making the most of every item in your wardrobe.

Another hero piece for me are these black wide leg trousers. This leg lengthening and figure-flattering style is surprisingly easy to wear. When it comes to what to wear with wide leg pants, it's all about balancing proportions to make them work for every age group and shape. You're looking to balance out the wider hemline by keeping your top half more form fitted and tailored.

This will ensure you're adding less bulk to your frame, as well as creating a longer and leaner silhouette, the eye is drawn down your body to the widest part of your outfit, instantly lengthening and narrowing the rest of your silhouette. Literally anyone can wear wide leg pants, thinking about how you will highlight your frame, rather than overwhelm it with fabric is what's important. The jumpers above both look fabulous tucked in to emphasize the waist as does a plain tee, again tucked in, with a blazer/coat over it.
