Many of us have spent a lot more time in our living rooms over the last few months… anyone else a bit fed up of those four walls? There’s only one thing for it - makeover time!
If your living space could do with an update, it’s really quite easy to give it a new lease of life.
Here are our top tips.

Bring the rainbow
We’re really loving pops of statement colour right now, and switching up a stark white wall for something a bit brighter is the perfect way to give your space a fresh new look.
For a quick and easy job, pick one wall to paint and choose a colour that complements the other colours in your room. For a living space, teal blue, forest green and berry purple are all cosy choices that will give a warm, sumptuous feel.
Invest in statement furniture
If you have a bit of a budget, selecting some new furniture will instantly update your living room. And the investment doesn’t need to be huge – there are some amazing, on-trend pieces that won’t break the bank.
This plush Midnight Blue velvet armchair would look amazing against a statement wall, while this vintage-style coffee table will bring some Mid Century vibes to your home.
One of the biggest changes you can make in a room is on the floor, but changing the carpet or sanding down floorboards is a big, expensive job. If you can’t stretch to that right now, look for a new rug to bridge the gap.
If you’re covering carpet, go for a rug with a similar texture but contrasting colour – this rich teal and yellow style is glorious, and this graphic print version would work perfectly in a Scandi-inspired space.

For wood or laminate flooring you can be more creative with texture, like this round jute rug.

Let there be light
The final stage in your living room makeover – lighting. Changing the lighting can totally transform a space, and there are so many options to choose from. If you have wall-mounted lights, swap outdated fittings for this contemporary wood and glass style to get that modern feel. This sixties style glass shade will create a statement in the centre of your room.
If you can’t change the fittings, add free-standing lighting instead – this floor lamp is giving us all the art deco feels, while this bamboo table lamp will add texture and detail.
