Give your Christmas table the wow factor

Make sure your festive feast is one to remember by drawing guests in with a table to impress! Sure, they’re there for the tasty food and magnificent company, but top-class decorations can be the cherry on top that takes a special celebration to the next level.
It doesn’t matter if this is the stuff that makes you tick, or you don’t know your napkin ring from your cake fork, we’re here to help. We’ve got three sure-fire themes that work around basic principles, to make sure you smash it every single time.

Classic Christmas

Picking a traditional colour palette is a guaranteed winner at this time of year. When in doubt, start with a classic red hue and your canvas is primed to add foliage, some personalised place-settings and touches of fun that’ll suit guests of any age.

Our Victorine Linen Tablecloths are a reliable base to build from – we love the selection of colours on offer. A strong, rosy background colour screams Christmas, and the pre-washed crisp and soft fabric feels so luxurious without being a pain to look after. For an extra dose of festive fun, layer your base up with a PVC Polka Dot overlay

Next, top black Siklo Placemats with Kubler Porcelain Dinner Plates to echo your dotty canvas. Then add a few Bijar 3 Candle Holders to the table for a warm glow at varying heights, so as not to obscure anyone’s view of their table partner. Go totally extra with a scattering of Casper Taupe Christmas Decorations around plumes of fresh holly. Finish with Linen Napkins and as many crackers as you can handle.

Grown-ups Only

For a more adult version that doesn’t sacrifice the wow, start with a Charcoal Victorine Linen tablecloth and layer from there. Add a Bello Linen/Cotton Fringed Table Runner down the centre of the table and keep the sides clear of placemats, instead piling up plates: first the AM.PM Etsumi By V. Barkowski Earthenware Plate, then the Altadill Dinner Plate in Bronze green for an artisan take on festive crockery.

Line fork, knife and spoon vertically across the centre of the plate – we love the Nazama 16-Piece Stainless Steel Cutlery Set in Gold for this because everything deserves to be more luxe at Christmas, right? Plus there’s this Nordest set of 4 to use as water glasses.

Down the centre of the table level up by spray painting festive fir clippings in mixed metallics. Wrap them around the base of candles and mix with similar coloured baubles in big glasses vases and shallow bowls. For a final flourish, tie thick black ribbon around each place setting, slipping a golden gift tag underneath so your guests know where to settle themselves once the food arrives.

Nordic Narnia

Lastly, a Winter Wonderland landscape is quite simple to recreate and looks totally timeless. When in doubt… go Nordic. This time around get your Victorine Linen in bright white, and layer up with the AM.PM Taraka Pre-Washed Linen Placemats (https://www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350052764.aspx) for pure elegance. Pair these with rolled Linen Napkins tied with simple twine with a sprig of fresh pine down the centre. Repurpose chunks of firewood to create simple place holders – a small cut in the top of the wood will make the perfect spot to nestle a hand-lettered place card.

For tableware, these Miwin Dinner Plates straddle class and novelty perfectly. The matching serving dish can take centre stage, too. The Nazama 16 Piece Cutlery Set will polish this modern classic look off nicely and have your guests probing for tips.

In the centre of the table, start by filling tall glass vases with white and silver baubles, more chunks of firewood and clusters of pine. Add a few white pillar-style candles and finish off by dotting Caspar Decorative Christmas Trees here and there between the wine glasses.

Happy Holidays!
