#DiscoverLR Mad About The House
Back in London, I decided that French was the way forward and so I ordered a pin stripe suit from La Redoute which, I felt, would give me the required amount of chic and sass for my first day’s work on a national newspaper. And then, wardrobe sorted, I sort of forgot about it. Because catalogue shopping was always somehow harder than it should have been and it was easier to go to a real life store for clothes.
Fast forward to the 21st century and not only can we all shop online now, but La Redoute has brought not just its clothes, but its homewares to the UK. A huge range of affordable stylish products that bring a little bit of that sought-after Je ne sais quoi to your home.
A couple of years ago the company asked me to style a series of shots for them using their interiors products. I was amazed to discover not only how vast the collection was, but how much of it I wanted. I chose to tell the story of that chic French woman who had so inspired me by styling a bedroom, an office and a relaxing after work space – all of which had a classic French trench in the corner of the shot as a nod to her unseen, but always stylish presence.
Working with the company again this year, I again styled three different looks but this time in my own home; the hall table – the first thing you see when you come home, the kitchen table and the bedroom. I loved that half-moon table which works for even the smallest of halls – which mine is - while the vast range of crockery and glasses is particularly strong and can mix perfectly with your existing collection or tableware.
Finally, after years of using only white bedlinen it was a treat to explore their large range of colour and print which fit perfectly with the new style of maximalism that is sweeping the world of interiors at the moment. What will you discover?
