9 Outfit Ideas for New Year’s Eve Parties

It’s that time of the year again when we’re all starting to think about our plans for New Year’s Eve. When Christmas is over, and you’ve already done all your online sale shopping, now’s the time to plan your outfit for the big night.

Whether you’re off to a glamorous event, drinking with friends or staying in for a quiet one, we all want to look and feel our best as we countdown to say goodbye to 2022 and welcome 2023!

In this blog we’ve picked our 9 favourite inspirational outfits to help you feel fabulous this NYE - whatever your plans

Going “Out, Out”

The time for staying in has passed - this NYE you’re going all out. When it comes to women's New Year's Eve outfits for the most coveted night of the year, we think there’s simply no such thing as “too glam”!

This season it’s all about textures and combining these beautiful and varied textiles together to create the perfect look.

Just because it’s a lot colder in winter, it doesn't mean you can’t don your favourite LBD. It just means the accessories need a slight switch-up.

Whether you’re going out to a ball, dinner, and drinks or just a few glasses of champers, both outerwear and shoes are going to be of great importance. This will mean you can maximise warmth and comfort when travelling between locations.

Sure, you want to concentrate your efforts on your main look, but you can really set it off with a statement coat or jacket.

1. Slip dress

The slip dress has been an absolute must-have for every woman’s wardrobe this year. Sheer and flattering, whether you opt for a mini or a maxi version it’s bound to be a winner.

Choosing a maxi cami dress for the big night is an excellent choice for a more formal outing. One thing this catwalk-worthy piece isn’t is warm!  Pair it with a super cosy teddy coat for a regal outer layer and finish off the look with a delicate heel for contrast.

2. Mini Dress

Choose colour and texture with a long-sleeved silk mini. This stunning high neck mini dress oozes class and fun. This style of dress looks fantastic when complemented with patterned (or even better - sparkly!) tights and ankle boots.  Finish the look with coordinating chunky earrings

3. Bodysuits

Not everyone is keen to wear a dress for New Year’s Eve, especially if you’re prone to feeling the cold. Velvet fashion is totally trending, and this gorgeous material really hits the mark for the biggest night out of the year, Shimmery, flattering, and warm, you won’t regret choosing this garment. We love this classy low-back velvet bodysuit for an evening on the tiles.

Skinny jeans are out and wide-leg trousers are in, and the seam detail on these ones continues the class. Knee-high boots are a great addition to this ensemble.

Hostess with the Mostess

Dinner party at yours? Perfect! There are so many benefits to staying in and hosting friends for the New Year. Enticing your guests to finish off your leftover liqueurs and nibbles is just the start. Running things to your own standards, on your own timescale, in your own home is the ultimate convenience.

The only downside is knowing what to wear for your New Year’s Eve outfit! Of course, you want to dress to impress, but you’re also, well, at home. Check out these three options to achieve the perfect blend of classy and comfy.

4. Classy but comfy

It’s a big night and breaking out the power suit feels like a great choice. Bring the perfect hostess energy with a striking colourful two-piece. We love this jacquard teal jacket and trouser combo - oversized and comfortable, the pattern does all of the talking so it pairs well with a simple plain tee underneath.

Flat pumps or slippers work well as a footwear choice in case you’re ferrying platters to and from the kitchen.

5. Festive and feminine

Cosy, but make it luxurious. Sometimes a cold night calls for a warm and feminine look - and what better go-to item than a classic cashmere jumper? Whether you prefer thick, fine, or fitted anything goes.

We love this classic black turtle neck, and paired with a stunning velvet skirt - pleated, for ample twirling - you’ll feel sophisticated and feminine. Accessorise this look with chunky gold earrings and bangles.

6. Jumpin’ around in a jumpsuit

Combine the simplicity of choosing one killer statement piece to set off your look, with the style and elegance a jumpsuit provides.

This is the perfect choice for hosting - just one thing to think about if you’re running late and want to throw something on. Add a pair of heels or flatform trainers and voilà! Finish with a metallic belt and statement earrings for a touch of sparkle.

8. Lovely loungewear

Are you starting 2023 as you mean to go on - in your loungewear? Athleisure has been an absolute hit this year, and we don’t think you should have to compromise between wearing a dress for New Year and chilling. The dress hoody is the perfect antidote!

Put your hair up and add chunky socks, and you’ll be ready to score a night to remember in comfort. Oh, and maybe throw in some Ugg Slippers for extra warmth.

9. Chunky Christmas wear

Envelop yourself in comfort. Last but not least this final look is really the epitome of snug. We love this warm wool poncho to sweep on and tuck in! Works really well as a top layer with a plain base layer of black leggings and a black shirt.

Chunky socks are an absolute must! And if you’re really keen to stretch out the festivities this year, you can substitute the poncho and throw on your favourite Christmas jumper one last time!
