Barefoot Trail Glove 8 Trainers, black/grey, MERRELL

Got these about 2 months ago, have been using them in the gym and for my 6 mile walks for weight loss. Was skeptical about the “Barefoot” style but I liked the look and Merrell’s have been the only shoes consistently comfortable so gave them a shot. I absolutely love them, the vibrant soles for trails give them probably a little more meat than usual “barefoot” shoes but I think that’s great. You feel the ground but if we walk on gravel acorns or sticks it isn’t uncomfortable. My only negative is I forgot I’m a 12.5 and ordered 13’s, and I must have got on the train too late because all the 12.5’s are sold out. Wanted to purchase like 2 more pairs of the oolong to have as backups cause I like them so much. Definitely recommend. I’m 6 foot tall, was 320lbs and have lost 40lbs, good portion cause of my walks, usually get arch pain from flatter shoes but no issues with these.

These shoes are exactly what I needed to help alleviate my back issues. It's remarkable how I now feel as far as spinal comfort. The Merrils were also more padded then other zero gravity shoes which for me, gave me more support.

The newest Trail Glove is extremely uncomfortable. The medial aspect of the instep has a rigid plastic piece that dig into my skin. Can’t wear them for more than 15 minutes and can’t imagine trying to run in them.

Seems well built and the overlapping tongue should help keep debris out as well as not moving off center. Having extra cushioning vs pure barefoot type of feeling but still a 0 drop has so far been good for me as an older runner. I did find that the first few days (a week?), the top eyelet was very stiff and dug into the front of my foot until it broke in a bit. Other than that I’m so far happy with them but really do like the older Trail Glove 7. The sizing does run large as I’ve found with most of the Merrill line but I did order a 1/2 size down knowing that already.

I have had the 7 forever and it is great. I was going to upgrade to the 8 because I was wearing divots in the soul of both my 7's. However, after wearing the 8's for a day the collar of the was rubbing way to much on my ankle and causing me pain.

This is my 7th pair of Trail Gloves in 7 years. I wear them out. They are the only shoes that I can run in on hard surfaces to protect my joints. Cushion is the opposite of what I need for long distance running. They are light, comfortable, durable, and affordable.

I don’t own trail glove 8 yet but have owned the 6 and 7 and several pairs of the trail glove 6 leather. This line is by far my favorite of all the shoes Ive owned. I have high arches and find the support in the trail gloves (vs vapor glove) to be very good and comfortable. I also like the stability of the footbed, it feels like armor rather than a mountain of foam or zero protection. Also, I am very tall with narrow profile feet and would say these are ideal (I know others have complained about the narrow width). As a tall person the lower stack height is really great because the shoe doesn’t add more inches to my stature.

My only gripe would be that you haven’t made a leather model for two generations now. I owned 3 pairs of the trail glove 6 in leather and would quickly buy up a few of a trail glove 8 leather.

I really like my new Trail Glove 8. These are the first pair of Merrell shoes I have owned. They are fantastic ! I wear them for strength training, and my feet don’t hurt at all when I ride the bike or walk. The only shoe I’m wearing right now.
