Pantone Colour of the Year 2021 – style notes

A new year calls for a new Pantone Colour of the Year… or rather, two! For 2021, Pantone have selected two shades to take us through the next 12 months – Ultimate Gray, which is practical and solid, and Illuminating, which is warm and optimistic. The combination aims to bring positivity to the year, uplifting us and helping us look forward to a brighter future. We’re here for that!

The combo of grey and yellow is pretty classic, and it’s a great one to work into your home and wardrobe. Here are our style notes on this perfect pairing.

The Everyday Outfit

We’re always looking for ways to add a little sunshine into our day-to-day look – this gorgeously sunny skirt fits the bill perfectly. Teamed with this soft grey cashmere jumper, it’s a cool and cosy outfit to see you through the bleak midwinter.

The Workout Gear

‘Tis the season to get back to the gym (well, the home-based version of it, anyway) – why not take the spirit of the Pantone Colours of the Year to your workout? We love this bright yellow vest and grey leggings combo.

For Little Ones

Kids can get in on the action, too – yellow is such a bright, positive colour for children and mixing it with a splash of grey gives it that practicality. For sunny shades, go for this classic wax cotton jacket, a comfy cardi, easy joggers or these fab wellies. Then mix and match with grey jeggings, a warm hoodie dress or a snuggly jumper

For Your Home

We love the ethos behind this year’s Pantone Colours – who doesn’t need a bit of optimism in 2021? That mix of positive brightness and grounding solidity translates beautifully into homewares, so we’ll definitely be adding these shades to our interiors. Starting with these linen cushion covers and this grey woven throw!
