I have been a lover of colourful interiors and brave patterns for as long as I can remember. I am a HUGE fan of shade of pink, pops of green and other pastel touches. I strongly believe that it can take a leap of faith and gut instinct to create the transformation you hope for. My home is often a mirror image of the thoughts inside my head. I’m extremely lucky my husband gives me free reign to create!
With the downstairs WC makeover I wanted to create a mermaid theme and unify a bold statement wallpaper print with a zesty paint colour. The result is super pleasing to the eye, all thanks to the additional touches made with La Redoute accessories. I chose just a handful that would be effective and cohesive within the theme and reasonably priced.
I chose a hammered effect pink light to cast an under the sea light distortion. The light also paired with the wallpaper perfectly. The light was simple but effective!
I included the art deco shell mirror to create the illusion of more space and draw the eye to the softened edges of the shells, bringing the accessories and theme together harmoniously.
The amber vase and pink pampas were the perfect finishing touch to draw the eye to the natural light from the window, softening the hard panelling and square walls with the fluffy pampas texture and soft angular features of the vase.

Altogether I was able to create the perfect downstairs WC transformation. Each accessory and furnishing complimenting the other and neither over-empowering the other.
My recommendations for choosing accessorises and furnishings for rooms, without breaking the bank, is to choose less and make those you pick the statement pieces that bring the paint/wallpaper together, especially when decorating a small area. Less is more! Not usually a saying I live by, but the accessories can easily be impactful when there are fewer of them.
