A Christmas gift guide for home lovers by @iamkristabel

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is almost upon us, and we asked one of our favourite bloggers to share her ideas for perfect gifts for home lovers. Kristabel of @iamkristabel lives in a flat in London which is filled with colour and joy. Here, she edits her  Christmas Gift Guide for home lovers

A happy home

My home has definitely become my happy place over the past year and a bit.  Moving into my own flat just before the first lockdown forced me to bond with it quite intensely.  There were Tiktok dances in the living room, GBBO-style challenges in the kitchen and pigeon nests discovered on the balcony.  Since I didn’t have all my furniture in the beginning, I had to just live in the space and gradually figure out how to translate my colourful style across four different rooms.

Eventually I decided on having a global-mash up in the living room, with African bowls on the wall and trinkets from my travels on every surface.  The bedroom is a calmer space, with pastel tones, sculptural candles and floral artworks.  When it comes to the kitchen, I have prints that reflect my favourite foods and the bathroom is filled with pink accents.  I have some beloved statement pieces from La Redoute, my faves being the Wapong sideboard, Florian plant pot and Ariana speckled bowl.

Gifting for the home

Whether you’re buying for someone who’s just moved or pretty settled in their place, here are a few gifting suggestions that are the perfect finishing touches.  They’re similar to some of the pieces I have in my home and ideal for those who love their spaces to be full of personality.  I won’t judge if you end up treating yourself too!

Keep it cosy

‘Tis the season to stay wrapped up on the sofa whilst binge-watching your favourite shows.  This is the failsafe gifting category, think candles, cushions or cosy soft furnishings like this mohair look throw.  The cocoa, candy cream and vanilla candle sounds like it'll provide the perfect homely atmosphere and I love this geometric cushion to liven up a sofa situation.  You could even create a bundle featuring a diffuser, matching candle, mug and a box of lovely tea.  Pop them into a handy hanging basket that can also double up as storage.

Deck the walls

Does your recipient need some help when it comes to wall decor?  La Redoute have you covered.  I love creating gallery walls that incorporate different elements like clocks or mirrors.  These decorative bowls would work well next to something rattan above a sideboard or sofa.  Finish off the arrangement with a woven fan or even a hanging planter (bonus points if you also decide to gift a new plant).  You could also go for a joyful print, such as this retro print or something ramen-related for the kitchen.

Culinary creativity

I can’t be the only one who’s curious about the air frying phenomenon?  This retro air fryer would be a great gift for someone who fancies a fuss-free cooking option that also looks great on a counter.  If you’re buying for someone who’s keen to cut down on foil and cling film, then a few of these bamboo containers should do the trick.  Fill them with chocolates or other knick-knacks for the kitchen.  Finally this speckled cake stand is the kind of thing that elevates any baked showstopper.
