Statement Pieces to Build a Room Around

Here at La Redoute, we think rooms are a little bit like outfits. Sometimes, something is just too good to miss out on, so the only thing to do is buy it and build from there. The rest of your wardrobe lying low at the back of your mind.

A statement piece of furniture can be all you need to spark inspiration in your surroundings. The right piece can elevate the mundane to the beautiful. There are some beds, armchairs, sofas and rugs out there that can speak for themselves, drawing in every eye and creating easy, guaranteed wow factor. Here are the items we’re currently coveting…

The Turin Left Facing Corner Sofa by Swoon  is everything we’ve dreamt a sofa could be and more. We love its mid-century shape in rich, spicy ochre or a bold, juicy red. Position it against a statement wall to create maximum impact, with rattan side tables and a swooping lamp. Do you believe in love at first sight? ‘Cuz we do.

The Noya Vintage Bed in Walnut by La Redoute Interieurs  hold equal power to steal the spotlight. We love the rich deep colour of the wood matched with the rattan cane headboard which cocoons you for ultimate cosiness. We’re dressing it in soft terracotta sheets and surrounding it in house plants. And piling on the throw cushions, obvs.

This Blue Velvet Chair with Rubberwood Legs by Premier  could be the most glamourous armchair we’ve ever laid eyes on. Its scalloped finish and rich velvet is serving us serious Gatsby vibes. We’d pair it with dark walls, gold fixtures and a cocktail in hand for a sumptuous art deco look.

The Jewel Bright Paint Splash Rug by Think Rugs is a sure-fire way to fill a large space and make it count. Bright and vibrant with gorgeous colours, you seriously won’t be able to look away. For best results, we’d leave it uncovered (who needs a coffee table anyway?!) on dark floorboards, channeling a minimalist, Scandi look in any modern, light filled space.

The GUEISHI Openwork Coffee Table by La Redoute Interieurs

This) is a super ornate, detailed piece that instantly creates drama wherever it’s placed. The glass top partners beautifully with mirrored surfaces, so try it in a room with lots of windows or hang circular mirrors on one wall to reflect the soft shape back. The dark colour has us thinking of rich jewel tones and low lighting - perfect for a comfy lounge.
