My husband and I have lived in London a total of 13 years this year and until last year was the first year we had our own garden. I truly had no idea just how wonderful it would be to have a space to call our own. Something to enjoy just for us.
For us the garden has become a sanctuary, a place to enjoy the long hot summer days, especially during this strange time. It unknowingly became a place which helped our mental health.
We wanted to create a space to connect with nature, really an extension of our home. We both love the wide range at La Redoute, there is always such great choice and you find things you don’t always see elsewhere. Here’s how we made our garden our favourite space and how you can too.
On days when we were struggling with the mundanity of working at our desks indoors we would use the garden as our very own staff break room. Enjoying a Coffee outside in the sunshine away from our laptops was such a treat. These rattan chairs are the perfect place to enjoy a break in your garden.
Garden furniture can be notoriously uncomfortable, usually what you gain in comfort you lose in style but not with these rounded chairs they tick both boxes perfectly. Rattan is a big trend at the moment both indoors and out, so these dining chairs and the beautiful Nihove armchair are also perfect for a conservatory or casual dining room.
Having sectioned areas in the garden was also really lovely for us. We made an area for dining and an area for seating. We also even put up our own hammock - a place to fully relax and switch off! Sectioning off your garden can be achieved easily with beautiful rugs like this one and even a gorgeous outdoor coffee table. These two I think worked so perfectly against our dark fence backdrop.
Having dinner on warm evenings outside in the garden also became our favourite thing to do. We’ve never really been able to do that before. So, we took full advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoyed lovely breakfasts at our dining table, afternoon barbecues and my favourite cheese and wine nights at sunsets.
I’m a sucker for making things look and feel beautiful and so one of my favourite things to do is dress the table. A table cloth can truly transform a worn old garden dining table to something special.
My favourite is a neutral Palette and the pairing of that with these beautiful linen napkins and gold cutlery really makes for a really stunning dining setup. I will be using these indoors in the autumn too, making sure to linger over those summer memories.
