Crocs: the shoe of the summer

If you’re over 30, the idea of Crocs being stylish is probably a totally alien concept. For Millennials during the noughties, Crocs were the embarrassment of the fashion industry – the bright, plastic style with add-on badges (called Jibbitz) was universally mocked and Crocs quickly became the marker of the unfashionable.

But… this is 2021, and the style scene has changed beyond recognition thanks to the pandemic and our new-found love for comfortable fashion, as well as the emergence of Gen-Z and their noughties-inspired looks. Recently, Crocs have featured on the feet of some massive celebs, including Nicki Minaj – her Instagram post where she wore a pair of hot pink bedazzled Crocs caused a 4,900% spike in searches for ‘pink Crocs’.

And the brand has collaborated with some pretty cool names, too – Balenciaga created a Crocs collection back in 2017, and in 2018 they worked with rapper Post Malone on a limited edition pair. In 2021, Crocs even appeared on the Oscars red carpet.

Whether you love them or hate them, Crocs are having a real moment. The lightweight, durable finish and colourful, playful styles are perfect for sunny days spent at the beach… take a look at our top picks from our Crocs section, and embrace the ugly for 2021!
