Coffee Cocktails: Our Favourites

We're sad to admit it, but the days of Pimms and fruity summer ciders may almost be behind us for another year. Fear not though, we have the perfect drink replacements that are just as good in cold weather and give us that pick-me-up we need as temperatures starts to fall.

Coffee cocktails are not a new idea, but they've definitely become lots more popular in recent years, with the rise in popularity of the famous Espresso Martini, and we can see why! For coffee lovers everywhere, we've teamed up with Delonghi to show you some of our favourite coffee cocktails to try out at home.


The Espresso Martini

We'll start with the classic, a delicous, boozy pick-me-up, great for after dinner with or without a dessert!

Ingredients
50ml Vodka
40ml Espresso Coffee
25ml Kahlua Coffee Liqueur 
10ml Sugar Syrup (to taste) 

Method
Shake all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled glass.

Glass: Martini
Ice: Just to shake: none to finish
Garnish: 3 coffee beans




The Pumpkin Spice Latte

So we may be slightly premature with this one, it's not quite pumpkin spice season yet, but it's so good we don't think it should be limited to a few months a year! Try out the boozy version of the coffee shop favourite for yourself.

Ingredients
40ml Spiced Rum
40ml Espresso Coffee
25ml Pumpkin Syrup (Add pumpkin puree to sugar syrup) 
50ml Whole Milk 
2 drops Vanilla Extract

Method
Warm the milk in a saucepan over a medium hear until simmering and take off heat. Mix all incredients together, top with cream and dust with cinnamon. 

Glass: Latte glass
Ice: None
Garnish: Cinnamon dusting



The Old Fashioned

A twist on a cocktail classic. All the charm of the Old Fashioned you know and love, with a kick of coffee! What's not to love?

Ingredients
40ml Espresso Coffee
25ml Amaretto
25ml Spiced Rum
5ml Sugar Syrup (to taste)
Splash Bitters (to taste)

Method
Stir all ingredients with ice in a beaker to taste.

Glass: Rocks
Ice: Single large cube
Garnish: Slice of orange




The Ginger Coffee Julip

This coffee and ginger combination gives all the kick you need - no alcohol required! A twist on the classic Mint Julep.

Ingredients
25ml Espresso Coffee
Handful Mint Leaves
Top Up Ginger Beer

Method
Add all ingredients into highball glass with ice and garnish with mint. 

Glass: Tin/Metal Goblet 
Ice: Crushed ice
Garnish: Mint



The Rosemary Tonic

A very on-trend choice of beverage and one to try if you want to hold onto your refreshing summer drinks for a little bit longer! Alcohol-free too, so you can drink it anytime of day - perfect.

Ingredients
25ml Espresso Coffee
100ml Tonic
3 Sprigs Rosemary

Method
Muddle rosemary with coffee and slowly pour coffee over the top.

Glass: Highball
Ice: Ice
Garnish: Sprigs of rosemary
