Five Summer Breakfast Ideas

Quick, easy and refreshing breakfast dishes to get your summer mornings started. Forget boring bowls of cereal and soggy toast with jam – breakfast just got a summer season upgrade!

Totally Instagrammable toast

Toast is having a moment – sweet or savoury, for breakfast or lunch, there are so many things you can do with a humble slice of bread… none of which involve margarine! Brown your slice in butter, French style, and top with fresh berries. Or slice an avocado, add cherry tomatoes, season with salt, pepper and chill then pop the whole thing on toast. The possibilities are endless… but don’t forget to snap before you eat!

Sensational smoothies

There’s no easier breakfast than a whole load of fruit whizzed up and served fresh, but you can get creative with your smoothies. Add a handful of leafy greens (spinach is great) for a vitamin boost, or sneak in some cinnamon to satisfy a sweet tooth. Serve in a bowl decorated with edible flowers, or go straight to the glass and down it in one. Done!

Pancakes, crepes and waffles, oh my!

Yes, we know they’re all basically the same thing… but the deliciousness is in the detail! Whip up a stack of fluffy pancakes, topped with fresh blueberries and drizzled with honey. Or if you prefer, paper-thin crepes served the traditional French way – with lemon and sugar. And we can never resist crunchy waffles – we’ll take ours with strawberries and cream, please!

Check out chia seeds

They don’t always look the prettiest, but chia seeds are packed with goodness – fibre to keep you full, Omega-3 fatty acids to help reduce inflammation and protein too, which is great if you’re vegan or veggie. Soak them overnight and add fruit to make a tasty breakfast pudding.

How do you like your eggs in the morning?

Eggs are a timelessly classic breakfast choice and with so many ways to make them, you can have a different style every day of the week! Poach them with a splash of vinegar and serve with cured meat, scramble them with butter and add a couple of grilled tomatoes, hard boil them to eat alongside fresh fruit or go old school with a dippy egg and toast soldiers!
