Hands up if you’ll be spending a lot of time at home this festive season… that’s most of us, then! Christmas 2020 is less about glitter and sparkle, more about knitwear and candles - and to be honest, we’re totally here for it.
As the Big Day approaches, we’re gearing up for full hibernation mode. If it’s good enough for nature, it’s good enough for us! Think a fridge full of food, the best festive filmed lined up and many, many blankets. Here are our tips for your cosy Christmas at home.
Start nesting
Most of us have the nesting instinct when it’s cold outside – who wants to brave the snow when we could rearrange the cushions to make the perfect telly-watching spot?
Winter nesting is all about soft furnishings, and we’re loving all things textured right now. This woven throw is perfect for layering up on the sofa, while this fluffy cushion is totally cuddly. Try mixing textures – like wool with velvet – to create the perfect cosy space.
Stock your cupboards
Squirrels gather nuts to see them through the winter… we’ll be gathering crisps, chocolate and maybe a cheeky bottle of champagne, too.
The best thing about Christmas is having fully stocked cupboards bursting with tasty treats, and it’s more important this year than ever before. We’re thinking decadent cheeses, exotic olives, posh coffee… and the obligatory chocolate orange, of course. On your last supermarket run of the season, pile your trolley high with all your fave things and eat your way through to the New Year. Love it.
Assemble your winter layers
To prepare for a winter in hibernation, animals put on layers to keep themselves warm. The human version of that comes in the form of woolly leggings, thick socks and fleece onesies. Oh yes!
This cute heart print onesie will keep you extra cosy through those winter nights – team it with some cute socks and some toasty slippers. Snuggly!
Arrange your entertainment
As much as we’d like to sleep our way through the last part of 2020, we probably need to be awake for some of it. And what better way to pass the time than with a curated selection of the best festive flicks?
Rather than spending hours aimlessly scrolling through Netflix, set some time aside to make a wishlist of your favourite films and episodes so when you hit your downtime, you’re ready to relax from the off.
