Small lamp, floor lamp, halogen lamp, how to choose?
Whether it's a reading lamp, a multi-lamp articulated floor lamp, or a projector lamp, your lighting needs to be chosen with care and method. Each free-standing lamp diffuses a particular light, helping to establish a certain mood - retro, studious, Hollywood, practical, muted, etc. - which needs to be determined beforehand. Then it's a matter of establishing the lighting requirement: is it practical for reading, powerful for manual work or simply indirect to create a play of shadows and colors in your room?A much-appreciated light fixture, the floor lamp has carved out a place for itself in our interiors. But if it's to be effective and provide the best possible lighting without forgetting the decorative style, it's not something to be chosen at random.
Shape, a basic factor in making the right choice
As you've no doubt noticed, floor lamps come in all shapes and sizes. This floor lamp (remember, it has to be at least 70 cm high to be called a floor lamp) is now available in an infinite variety of designs. There are simple, straight-stem models. One room, one floor lamp
As we all know, different rooms have different lighting requirements. In the living room, indirect lighting is a good solution. High models (up to 2 m) offer a wide beam of light.
For a dining room, an arched floor lamp is an excellent choice. You'll be able to illuminate the tabletop with elegance. To avoid any discomfort, it's best to opt for a fairly high model (a height of over 1.60 m is ideal).
The floor lamp can also be used in a bedroom. It will then be the ally of a reading or relaxation corner. A reading lamp can be placed next to a comfortable armchair.
You can also place your lamp in the entrance or hallway. Don't forget to choose a model with a floor switch, which is easier to turn on if you've got your hands full.
You'll also need to choose the right model for the job. For example, if you're choosing a floor lamp for accent lighting, you can buy one with a lampshade for a cosy, soft ambience. To light the whole room, floor lamps with different articulated heads are ideal. You'll be able to direct the light as you wish. Light output is also important. For a living room or bedroom, a floor lamp with a 4000 Kelvin warm light bulb (equivalent to 100 watts) is ideal. For an office or kitchen, opt for a cool light.
Give preference to LED street lamps, which will save you money, especially if you use them a lot.
Last but not least, don't overlook the options available with floor lamps, which can make your life a whole lot easier. Dimmers and remote programming are the perfect choice for a floor lamp that will do you a world of good.
