Pillows for children and babies

For baby or toddler to develop harmoniously, the choice of pillow is very important for quality sleep. The use of different types of pillows, such as bolsters or small cushions, can make baby's long nights easier by keeping them in the right position. Nursing cushions help to relieve the back and neck of mothers. Finally, pillows are unrivalled accessories for adding a personal touch to bedroom decor. They come in a range of sizes and colors, so you can vary the pleasures.

Sleep is necessary for a child to grow and stay healthy. That's why you need to do everything you can to ensure your child gets a good night's sleep, i.e. a deep night's sleep. To achieve this, all the elements of bedding count, especially the pillow. You'll need to choose a pillow that suits your child's small morphology. The pillow should be soft and comfortable.

The benefits of pillows for children

You can add a pillow to your child's bed from the age of three. An adapted, soft pillow will enable your child to enjoy a higher level of comfort. In fact, the use of a pillow allows your child to elevate his or her head, thus avoiding tension points.

The soft cushion helps protect your child from pain caused by poor posture, such as stiffness and torticollis. It also prevents twisting and stiffness, as well as blockages.

A good night's sleep on a soft mattress with a soft cover helps children to control their emotions; they have fewer mood swings and don't get upset over details.

How to choose a child's pillow

There's a wide range of pillows specially designed for children, some practical while others are classic. Of course, the price of pillows varies according to their quality. It also depends on the material of the pillowcase. For example, a cotton pillow is better than a satin one.

Opt for a practical pillow if comfort is your priority. This type of pillow moulds to the shape of your child's head, ensuring unrivalled ease of movement. Your child's classic or practical pillow should be between three and seven centimetres thick.

The cushion shouldn't be too soft, otherwise it won't provide optimum support for the cervical spine. Nor should it be hard, to avoid pressure points.

Material and shape

Each material used to fill a cushion has its advantages and disadvantages. The material also plays an important role in the cushion's comfort level. So it's an important factor to consider when buying a cushion for your child.

Among the most commonly used materials are memory foam, characteristic or synthetic latex and down or bird feathers. Polyester is also used to make pillows, but like memory foam, it doesn't offer good air circulation, because it's synthetic. It's advisable to use a pillowcase if you choose a synthetic cousin.

Cushions made from characteristic materials such as cotton and down are ideal for children. They offer softness and comfort, as well as ventilation.
