1.8L Rice Cooker and Steamer - 19750, stainless steel, RUSSELL HOBBS

Haven’t had great results so far as I eat brown rice and instructions don’t cover it - so trial and error at the moment. Tried steaming veg whilst cooking rice but turned to smush. Rice has hard ‘tooth breaking’ layer at the bottom which is impossible not to scoop up - though I’m trying. It works well but the results aren’t very good yet.

I bought this rice cooker because I eat a lot of rice dishes and I understand rice cookers are cheaper on electricity than using the stove. So far I am disappointed with it. I followed the instructions but I was surprised to see the rice on a rapid boil throughout the process and did not slow down at all once the water was absorbed and the rice started to burn. Adding more water makes no difference. So now I am using it manually and have to watch over it. I have noticed another review with a similar theme. If it's boiling rapidly rather than a gentle simmering I'm also wondering if it is going to be more expensive to run.

The rice cooker was delivered and when I plugged it in there was no power.. I contacted RH support and they were great.. after a couple of emails asking what the problem was they told me to please bin the rice cooker and they would dispatch me a new one.. it arrived 2 days later and works as expected.. very pleased

Simple design, easy to use but it will boil over even cooking one cup of rice. A little better than a saucepan.

Excellent value for money. Gets the job done and makes tasty rice every time. The steaming insert is very handy, I just put some vegetables in and let them steam while the rice cooks. It is also super easy to clean.

Good size, good function. However the cable is too short, also the tiny hole in the lid releases steam into the surrounding.
