Mother’s Day is looming and sales of candles, chocolates and carnations are rocketing… but what do mums REALLY want for Mother’s Day? Whether you’re trying to write a wish list for yourself or want to find the perfect present for your own mum, finding the right balance of practical (a sewing kit might seem like a good idea, but trust us… it isn’t) and pretty (another bunch of daffodils, really?!) is tricky.
That’s why we asked a host of Instagram mums for their perfect Mother’s Day present. There are some great ideas here, from flowers with a twist to quality time together… so you have no excuse this year!

“I always thought it was massively clichéd when my mum used to say she didn’t want presents she just wanted “our presence” for Mother’s Day, I totally get it now though as I just want a nice afternoon with my family. Nothing fancy, just QUALITY FAMILY TIME all together.”

“My dream Mother’s Day present would be a voucher entitling me to a whole afternoon away from any responsibilities - be it parental or work. I’d want to be forced to leave my phone at home, to go for a solo lunch date with a book and then maybe venture for a massage or trip to the cinema. I’m getting heart palpitations just thinking about it.”

“I’ll take flowers in their thousands! But ideally a nap would do.”

“Although I never say no to a bunch of flowers what I’d REALLY love for Mother’s Day is a full beauty overhaul. Someone to come to my house and provide all the beauty treatments that I never have time for now that I’m a mum - a great hair cut and colour, a facial, mani/pedi, eyebrow threading, the works... and then leave me on my own with at least 2 hours to enjoy my new blow dried, beautified self before normal parenting life resumes. Now THAT would be a treat!”

“At the moment I’m all about the expression “you can’t pour from an empty cup”, so therefore what I’d really love for Mother’s Day is a few hours to focus on myself! Solo shopping trips are my guilty pleasure so combine that with an hour or so just to sit and read over a cup of coffee and slice of cake in our local cafe, and I’ll be one happy Mama. Self-care is where it’s at!”
