Interior design tips and tricks
We’ve always been huge fans of interior design here at La Redoute, and we love seeing our products in your beautiful homes. From a table lamp lighting up some quirky wallpaper in a sumptuous bedroom to a fluffy rug adding texture and warmth to a minimal living space, there’s tons of inspiration to be found in the Instagram feeds of our customers.
More than ever, we’re spending our time and money on achieving our interiors goals. In a competitive housing market, more people are putting off moving and instead looking to interiors makeovers and clever DIY to make the most of the space they have.
And after a few years of working from home, we’re also looking for opportunities to make our homes multifunctional. A kitchen renovation could include a home office space, for example. Box rooms become gym spaces, living and dining areas are combined… you might even consider a garden room to get that extra space for your hobby. There are so many ways to expand the function of your home without spending lots of money on an actual extension, and products like a foldout wall desk or smart storage units will help you make the most of your space.
Here we’re sharing some of our favourite Insta pics of La Redoute products in real life – don’t forget to tag @laredoute_uk in your own pics, and you could see your room featured on our website too!

This eye-catching home office space in @soozidanson’s home is a perfect example of how to lean into a small room and maximise it with bold pattern and strong colours. The layered rugs and printed vinyl flooring add texture and detail to the space, which is balanced by the rich block colour walls. The mix and match effect of the gallery wall just adds to the creative flair in this space – a very inspiring room to work from!
Our product picks to recreate this look in your home:
- A natural woven planter like this will bring a touch of greenery to your space.
- When it comes to creating a gallery wall, look for a mix of colours, sizes and textures to give a multidimensional feel. We love these bold geometric prints.
- This Scandi-style desk is simple and stylish – a perfect addition to a bold room.
Botanical vibes

We couldn’t love this botanical bedroom by @our_casa_flamingo any more! Botanicals are still a key interiors trend and they work particularly well in a sleeping space – think deep, rich greens, foliage motifs, sumptuous fabrics like velvet balanced with fresh linens and natural textures in wicker and rattan. This space contrasts the botanical elements with monochrome bedding and pops of colours in cushions and art work. Perfection!
Recreate the look in your own bedroom with these key products:
- This cane headboard has black edging to keep it really fresh and modern.
- A curved rattan lightshade will make a stunning focal point in a botanical bedroom.
- Contrast the natural textures with this crisp black and white bedding.
Cottagecore chic

Cottagecore as an interiors trend shows no signs of abating – in fact, that soft, whimsical style is more popular than ever. We love the elements of country cottage in this dining set-up – that open-fronted cabinet displaying a mishmash of crockery is very rustic chic. The geometric tablecloth is a fab addition to ensure this space stays modern and fresh.
Get the cottagecore look in your dining room with these top picks:
- Handmade crockery is key to the cottagecore vibe – this organic jug looks like it just came off your potter’s wheel
- Vintage-style wallpaper is an easy way to create a homely space, and we love this detailed nature print. Keep it to one statement wall so it doesn’t overwhelm the room.
- Kitchen linens really help with that rustic feel, but adding a stylish, modern tablecloth will elevate your space and keep things balanced. We love this one.

Vintage opulence

This space just oozes luxury! The vintage opulence trend harks back to 1920s styles – think rich colours, heavy fabrics, ornate detailing and art deco motifs. We love the combination of intricate detail on the rug with jewel tone block colour on the tablecloth in this dining room by @theplaceonthepond.
Here are some picks to help you recreate the look:
- An ornate, gilded mirror is the perfect centrepiece to an opulent space.
- Carved candlesticks are icons from the 1920s and this set captures the look with a sleek, modern finish.
- This detailed rug will look fantastic in a period-style space – the deep blue shade in particular really adds to the Victorian setting.

If you’re looking to create the feeling of space where there isn’t much of it, this creative nook by @littleterraceoncherrystreet is such a great example. The use of paint is key in giving even the smallest space its own style – the contrasting colour arch sets a visual boundary for the desk that helps define it within the wider room.
Make the most of a small workspace with these picks:
- This compact desk has sleek Scandi styling that won’t look out of place once your work equipment is tidied away.
- Centre a simple wooden shelf over your desk to display books and plants.
- Choose a chair that blends seamlessly into the rest of your interiors, like this rattan style.
Our top 7 interior design tips and tricks
Take inspiration from our team with our savvy décor tips, making interior design easy. Whether you are a total novice or a self-proclaimed stylist, you are in the best place to begin your journey.
- Think outside the box - You don’t have to follow interior ‘rules’ – if you want to wallpaper your ceiling, go for it!
- Mix patterns - Layering different patterns over each other creates a sumptuous, luxury feel.
- Dress your windows - Curtains can make a huge difference to your space – invest in full length ones.
- Accessorise with art - Don’t follow the Instagram crowd, but choose art that’s meaningful to you.
- Think carefully about trims - A luxury trim can elevate the simplest design – look for pom poms on cushions and tassels on rugs.
- Pay attention to detail - It’s all about the little things, like the candles that pull out the colours in your wallpaper or the mismatched bedside lamps that somehow work perfectly together.
- Using lines in interior design – Create lines with panelling, contrasting paint colours or even sharp corners on furniture. Lines add height and width or to draw the eye to key parts of your space.
