Introducing a sustainable tote made by women, for women

We’re so excited to launch our new initiative – a sustainable, stylish tote bag, made from recycled cotton and sold in aid of charity, with £2.50 from each purchase going to Refuge via Work for Good. That’s 100% of the profits!

This beautiful bag features an eye-catching floral print and deep red shade, with the word ‘Solidaires’ in jacquard weave on the front. It’s the perfect ‘chuck it all in and go’ bag – take it everywhere from the office to the beach and make it your signature style this summer.

The story behind this charity tote bag is a really important one – read on to find out why we’re fundraising for Refuge via Work for Good.

Raising money for women and children

From every sale of this tote bag, we’re donating 100% of the profits (that’s £2.50) to Refuge via Work for Good. We chose Refuge via Work for Good as it’s a charity that’s working towards a world where women and children can live safely. They are committed to ending domestic violence, and through a range of life-saving and life-changing services, they empower women to rebuild their lives after they’ve experienced violence.

Refuge via Work for Good give a voice to the voiceless – they help women live their lives free from the fear of violence, and that’s something we really want to get behind.

Supporting sustainable production

When it came to designing a charity tote bag, we knew the production should be as sustainable as possible. We worked closely with French manufacturer Les Tissages de Charlieu – as a company, they’re committed to sustainable development and social care, and we knew they were the right people to create a stylish bag that had great eco credentials, too.

Les Tissages de Charliue are renowned in France for their jacquard fabrics, and their aim is to create accessible, eco-responsible and socially aware textiles. What’s more, their work contributes to a fairer, more inclusive and more sustainable society.

Using eco-friendly materials

Now more than ever, it’s important that we reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can. With that in mind, we chose recycled cotton for our charity tote bag – so we saved on raw materials and resources, and we reduced our waste.

We also manufactured the bag in France – supporting local production, reducing the amount of transport needed (and therefore reducing our CO2 emissions) and shortening the supply chain.

By being conscious of our choices and the impact they could have on the planet, we were able to create a piece that not only encourages our customers to reduce their plastic use when shopping, but is sustainably made right from the very start.

Delivering style and substance

In 2021, we want the things we buy to be more than just good looking. We all have a responsibility to look after our planet and the people who live on it – it’s no longer enough to consume without a thought for sustainability and social welfare.

By using eco-friendly manufacturing methods and recycled and recyclable fabrics, we reduce our impact on the environment. And by donating 100% of our profits to Refuge via Work for Good, to help women and children escape domestic violence and give them the tools they need to rebuild their lives, we support those members of our society who need us the most.

We’re so proud to bring you our 100% recyclable cotton tote bag, with 100% of the profits going straight to Refuge via Work for Good to support women and children. With a floaty summer dress, tailored shorts and a tee or an on-trend jumpsuit, it’s the perfect bag for stashing your stuff and heading out the door.
