If you usually look forward to trick or treating, costume parties and hitting the town with your flashing devil horns at this time of year, Halloween 2020 might feel a little flat. But there are still plenty of ways to celebrate while staying safe – here are some of our favourite ideas for a socially distanced spooky season.
Pumpkin picking
Pumpkin picking is one of our favourite seasonal activities, and as it’s outdoors and usually in nice big fields, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a bit of Halloween spirit safely. Make it extra special this year by getting dressed up and taking a picnic to enjoy afterwards.
Spooky street trail
One to get your local community involved in – instead of knocking on doors for treats, people are putting up Halloween pictures, fairy lights and carved pumpkins for children to spot on a spooky street trail. You could even create a map to follow and tick off the sights as you see them.
Zoom costume competition
If dressing up is your favourite part of Halloween, don’t miss your time to shine this year! Arrange a Zoom costume competition with your friends, bust out an incredible costume and show it off, digitally. You could even organise a virtual prize for best dressed, like a shopping voucher or batch of brownies through the post.
If all else fails, get baking
There’s nothing like a batch of Halloween biscuits, a terrifyingly delicious chocolate cake or some scary skeleton cupcakes to bring a little spooky spirit to the house!
