No doubt that the coronavirus pandemic had an impact on the way we work for the future. There is no escaping the fact that the future is hybrid. A lot has changed for me and many others since the pandemic hit. I have been working from home from the beginning, juggling home-schooling, family businesses and being a wife.
Over this period, my style and size have fluctuated like many; it is crucial to love and embrace your curves. Know that your style comes from within. We use fashion pieces as a form of expression and a way to show how unique we are without sacrificing comfort.
We finally have a reason to shop and leave the house. Investing in a more blended wardrobe that can transition between your time at the office, home and spaces you feel most productive is the best way to get the best out of hybrid working.
But where do you start? You do not have to return to the stuffy suits and uncomfortable heels. You can curate a hybrid wardrobe that combines the sophisticated corporate look with the comfort you desire. Shopping for the perfect autumn and winter transitional pieces can be tricky because of the temperamental British Weather. The key is to have transitional pieces that are classic in colour and that you can style easily to match the occasion.
A balanced wardrobe has the following vital pieces; an oversized blazer in a classic black or navy colour, a dress that is not only flattering but makes you feel your most confident, an essential white blouse, a short jacket and a comfortable teddy coat.

1: A white Long-Sleeved Shirt
A long-sleeved white shirt is a wardrobe essential because it can be dressed up with tailored pants or a skirt and dressed down with a pair of jeans and trainers. It is a feminine, classic shirt with a collar that looks good, opened or buttoned. The fit around the shoulders is perfect, and the overall look is bright but still relaxed.
I love a classic draping shirt like this because you can experiment with the styling. Having it half-tucked and paired with a great fitting pair of jeans gives a more relaxed but clean look. The fabric is 100% polyester, making it an ideal transitional piece for the colder months.
2: Straight Military Blazer
A relaxed, classic look is perfect for hybrid working. This navy military blazer is one of my favourite wardrobe staples because of how versatile it is. It gives an effortless but well-curated vibe in all situations. You can wear it as a suit with a tailored pair of pants/skirt for that classic board room fit or go for a more relaxed look by draping it over the shoulders, paired with jeans and shoes to match.
3: Denim Midi Shirt Dress with Short Sleeves
Ditch the classic black dress and opt for a traditional denim dress. This lightweight denim dress with press stud fasteners at the front is a curvy girl’s dream.
The shirt collar and stitched pleats on the show gives it a more sophisticated work look. Combine it with a pair of heels or statement boots for a more corporate feel. The short sleeves, seams at the waist and the removable tie belt add the comfort factor to this timeless piece. Accessories, a pair of trainers or cute booties adds an extra layer of style.
4: Bouclé Teddy Faux Fur Coat
A transitional wardrobe is never complete without a statement teddy coat. This super soft and cosy bouclé faux fur coat screams comfort and warmth. Its tailored collar and double breast buttoning give a level of sophistication and structure.
It is pretty roomy, which is suitable for layering with jumpers. It also has deep side pockets, which are great for keeping your possessions and keeping your hands warm.
Opt for a black, camel or beige colour so you can transition your outfits from work to evening night outs.
