Colour is an important part of making a house feel like a home, and we’ve partnered with the colour experts at Dulux to bring you an incredible competition to update one of your rooms, ready to show off to family and friends in 2022.
Every year, the Dulux team releases their colour of the year, and a selection of palettes that work well with that shade. For 2022, they’ve revealed Bright Skies. It's an airy and fresh tone that opens and breathes new life into any space.
In this article, our style experts have put together a range of gorgeous La Redoute accessories that will work beautifully with Dulux’s colour of the year and the corresponding colour palettes.
The Greenhouse Colours
This is an earthy colour palette that includes a multitude of different blue and brown tones. The mixture of colours here means it’s perfect for lots of different rooms, from bedrooms and living rooms to kitchens and offices.
This rustic colour combination means that darker woods and metal furniture works particularly well. Our Hiba furniture range is beautifully industrial, featuring rustic oak or pine accents and metal finishing.
The Hiba range is ideal for any space, with the Hiba Industrial Style Desk in Metal and Oak being perfect for offices, and the Hallway Coat Rack and Bench working well in hallways.
When it comes to accessories, the Greenhouse Colours add softness against the industrial pieces of furniture, so you can carry on with that theme with something like the Lenaig Industrial-Style Mirror or add further textures with rattan pieces like the Tarsile Rattan Frame Mirror.
We think the Japandi trend is ideal for this colour palette, with its clean lines, industrial edge and intriguing mix of patterns and colours.
Think about adding mirrors with soft edges to counteract any industrial-style furniture you have chosen. Those in our Organic Curves collection are ideal to style alongside the Greenhouse Colours, bringing a fluidity to your space that is unusual and bang on trend.
The Studio Colours
Featuring a lovely range of pastel colours, the Studio Colours collection has a mix of soft pinks as well as a couple of neutrals to help balance out the livelier colours in the palette.
For accessories and furniture, think about adding extra texture and softness to complement the pastels – our Modern Pastels trend collection is ideal to browse here. There are a lot of colours going on in this palette, so neutrals and other pastels will work nicely to add balance to your room.
Jute will work nicely with these colours, so think about adding a lovely rug if your space allows. The Aftas Rectangular Jute Rug is stunning and is sure to add texture and another talking point to your room.
Looking for wall art? No problem! You could choose from a selection of prints that feature the colours in the palette or a few shades darker to add some contrast to the room. The gorgeous Silver Leaf Design Framed Wall Art features a background not dissimilar to Dulux’s own Lilac Fancy, meaning it’d be the perfect choice for any living space using this palette.
When it comes to furniture, you could stick to neutral tones like white and beige or create accents using colours from the full palette. For instance, accent chairs in one of the bolder colours would work beautifully in a living room and coloured dining chairs are perfect for your kitchen or eating space.
The Salon Colours
The Salon Colours are wonderfully subtle, with a mixture of earthy brown and beige tones mixed in with blues and greys. This calming palette is perfect if you’re looking to create a space that helps you recharge after a busy day at work (or escaping the kids for a couple of hours).
Think bathroom, bedroom and living space for this palette – the places where we all want to unwind and relax.
When it comes to accessories, we love the cool aesthetic of this mix of colours, so we would recommend sticking with a relatively neutral range of accessories and furniture to allow these colours to speak for themselves.
If this is going to be your relaxation space, add some opulence with lots of gorgeous textures. Our faux sheepskin rugs are a great way to quickly add some luxury and some texture to a room – perfect for spaces with hard floors.
There is no such thing as too many cushions (ok, there might be), but try to bring some of the accents of The Salon Colours to your cushions or add texture with something like the fabulous Doudoux Cushion Cover. If that doesn’t take your fancy, don’t worry, we have a huge range of beautiful cushions and cushion covers available – there will definitely be something that suits your individual style.
Our full Textured trend collection is one you should definitely check out, with different looks for that tactile touch to your home.
The Workshop Colours
From the subtle shades of The Salon Colours to the vibrant tones of The Workshop Colours. This beautifully bold collection is perfect for those who love a pop of colour, whether that be in a living space, kitchen or even the home office to get those creative juices flowing.
A sociable mix of greens, yellows, blues and oranges means you can throw the rulebook out of the window when it comes to accessorising. Colour Blocking and Colour Pop trends work very well with a colour palette such as this, and that applies both to your furnishings and the painting of the walls.
Our gorgeous Abstract Framed Wall Art could be the ideal choice for a space decorated in this palette. Don’t forget to take a look at our full collection of wall art for even more inspiration.
Lighting wise, you can go one of two ways with this palette. Either allow the lights to blend into the background by using neutral colours, or really go for it with pops of colour and statement pieces. The So'Home metal floor lamp is the perfect example of the latter and can really tie your accessories with the room.
And there we have it. Our friends over at Dulux have pulled together four fantastic colour palettes using their Colour of the Year for 2022 – Bright Skies. For even more style inspiration, take a look at Ciara Elliot’s 7 ways to bring novelty into the home.
