A new season is upon us; spring has arrived! Time to shake off the chill of winter and embrace the longer, warmer days.
We’ve rounded up our favourites from the spring 2021 home decor trends and put together our top tips for refreshing your home for the season.
Tip 1 - Spring Clean
As the sun emerges from behind winter clouds and the weather starts to get warmer, spring is a great time for a deep clean of your home.
Open those doors and windows, let in the fresh air and blow away the cobwebs from the past few months of ‘hibernation’. Organisation queen Marie Kondo says; ‘Life truly begins after you have put your house in order’. We say that spring truly starts once you’ve reset your home after a long winter.
Tip 2 - Seasonal Bed Linens
An easy way to decorate your bedroom for spring is to change your bed linen for something pretty and floral. Store away those darker colours and heavy fabrics; choose light, bright patterns in soft textures such as cotton percale, linen mixes or muslins. You’d be amazed at how a bit of spring décor entirely changes the way your bedroom feels.
Tip 3 - Lighter Fabrics
During the colder months we all love to indulge with cosy, fabrics like rich velvets, warm fleeces and comforting wool blends. But as the weather warms up, as well as changing your bedding, switching up your curtains will completely change the feel of your home - at minimal expense. Make your space striking and replace your heavy curtains with light voile or linen panels.
These single linen blackout curtains flutter and float in a gentle summer breeze, blocking out the harsh strength of the sun during a hot day while still allowing light and fresh air into your home.
Tip 4 - Table Accessories
Maybe your kitchen table is the centre of family life - or perhaps you have a formal dining room which only gets used for special occasions? Whatever your situation, bringing a fresh look to your table is a great way to decorate your home for spring. Bright colours and quaint designs all celebrate the arrival of warmer weather.
From tablecloths to napkins, placemats to crockery and even coloured glassware - we have inspiration for everyone to update their dining décor.
Tip 5 - Plants and Flowers
What we love most about the arrival of spring is seeing our favourite plants bloom again. You can capture that feeling in your home by investing in a range of different plant pots and flowers.
Even if, like us, you’re decidedly not green-fingered, we have a range of faux plants that you can place anywhere for an instant hit of spring. Combine these with occasional bunches of cut flowers from your local florist for a mix of textures, colours and scents.
Tip 6 - Floor Decor
Changing your existing floor décor can give it the freshen up it needs for spring, though if that isn’t possible, a new statement rug can finish off the entire feel of a room too.
Rather than redecorating for the new season, add a splash of colour with a rug you can use both indoors and out. It is a clever way to decorate on a budget, or even implement a seasonal outfit change for your space. Moving a tile printed rug to a patio or decking space is a big trend for spring 2021.
Tip 7 - Scent of Spring
If you don’t have a blooming garden, patio, balcony or outdoor space, scented candles and diffusers can help to bring the smell of spring into your home.
Choose a fragrance with flowery, fruity notes for a bold aroma reminiscent of rose gardens. Lighter scents of cotton or linen for a subtle nod to the change of season work beautifully with a fresh set of bedding.
Tip 8 - Enjoy the Outdoors
Whether you have a large garden, sunny sitting area or modest balcony, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your outdoor space. Setting up a seating area with a small coffee table gives you a place to sit and soak in the fresh spring air and make the most of the newly-arrived sunshine.
You may prefer traditional materials like acacia or bamboo, or go for a modern feel with metal and concrete - we have contemporary furniture in all styles. Mix and match colours and materials for a quirky, playful feel or stick to neutral tones for a classic tone.
No matter the size of your space, complete the look with a wall planter or lantern to create a little haven - perfect for enjoying spring.
Tip 9 - Love Nature
Spring is the season where we watch nature come to life all around us. From birds to bees, the world is a-flutter with new chapters.
One of the best ways to embrace the new beginnings of spring is to encourage nature to be a part of your life. Why not set up a bird house or feeder in your garden? Even if you don’t have an outside space, you can get window feeders that brave birds will happily visit.
Choosing wildflowers for your planters will attract bees and, later, butterflies to your home. Just a few small changes to your home will help you make the switch from winter to spring.
Embrace the fresh feel of this exciting season with these ideas for your home and give your spring home decor a new lease of life.
